Ah, brows; one of the HOTTEST trends of 2016. But if you didn’t have ~perfect~ eyebrows like Cara Delevingne or Gigi Hadid, then you probably felt victimized by 2016... *raises hand slowly*.
I started getting my brows done in 2007 when I was about 13 years old. That was a time when popular brows were still on the thin side from the 90’s, but with a really arched arch. I’m super cheap, so when I got older and I had to use my own money, I just started plucking them myself using the “shape” I had before as a guide...bad idea. I ended up with SUPER thin arches and tails. They were so bad that I wouldn't go out in public without filling them in (which took forever). My brows were the thing I was most self conscious about.
Here are a few pictures of what they looked like before my transformation.
This is what they looked like when I did my full brow fill-in. It took me about 5-10 minutes to do just my brows
This is a picture one of my friends took while I was doing my “no makeup look”. My brows already look thin, and this is AFTER filling them in...
And now...here is a picture of what they looked like when I came in to see Mattie Rodriguez at M.Y. Beauty Lounge with NO MAKEUP on them...
Now you see why I HATED my brows. I honestly didn't think my eyebrows could even grow out to be full, that I would just be stuck with these awful, thin, brows. Until the magical day when I got a message from the #ArchAngel herself, Mattie Rodriguez, about modeling the eyebrow tint and sugaring she offered.
Once I sat down, she talked to me about how I felt about my brows, and what I wanted. I told her everything, and she came up with a plan. She shaped my current brows just a bit by sugaring them, then tinted them in a shape where I could actually follow the dyed part of my skin for a few days (until it washed off), so I could get used to filling them in the shape that I wanted. She told me to just let my eyebrows grow out as much as they could, then come back and see her.
Here is what they looked like after I saw her the first time:
Amazing, right? They already look SOOO much better than before.
Fast forward three months later and I decided my brows were ready to go see the #BrowQueen again.
Here is what they looked like after letting them grow for three months:
Even though my brows weren't shaped, they already looked better than when I was plucking them.
Now...the moment we’ve all been waiting for (or at least me)...here are my brows after she shaped them by sugaring, and gave them a darker tint to match my hair…
*insert harp music and birds chirping*. Ya’ll...Look at them! Those are my NATURAL brows!! Can you believe it?? I didn't think my brows could look that good! My brows are slightly shorter than what I like, so now all I have to do is extend the point just a bit and that’s it! My brow time has gone from 5 minutes for one, to under a minute for both! And what’s even better? She’s AFFORDABLE! You don’t have to empty your wallet just to get awesome brows!
Here is a picture of all three stages of my brows:
Along with shaping and tinting my brows, she also permed and tinted my lashes! I never knew my lashes were this long!!

After:
Now I can’t wait to get home and take off my makeup so I can look at my beautiful, natural, brows and lashes! (I never thought I would like myself better without makeup!). So here is a picture of me Au Naturel:
Thank you so much M.Y. Beauty Lounge for boosting my self esteem and helping me love myself in my own skin!
So now that it’s the new year, I am walking into it confidant with my new brows #OnFleek!
